'BBC4 - where performance comes to life' - was the inspiration for this beautiful piece of motion work. The idea was to recreate the beauty and charm of a Zoetrope where its magical content reveals as the carousel reaches a certain speed. There was much craft in this idea - each clip and perfomance were isolated and rotoscoped with each frame then put into a 3d cylinder created in After Effects. We then worked out the optimum speed to spin the cylinder to recreate the moving image again but now gaining a new charm and energy. This then gave us further creativity in how we could combine and stack each cylinder to bring everything to life in an engaging way,
